Honda GX35 35.8 cc 1.60 HP Four Cycle Engine.

Got this to replace the Chinese 49cc I was using on my Friction drive before. I wanted to go with a Honda engine to improve reliability for long term use & reduce the weight. It's a genuine Honda engine & it uses genuine Honda parts. Although the absence of the Honda logo on the red engine cover was a bit suspicious but it is a Honda engine none the less.

This engine is made in Thailand not Japan which might explain the absence of the Honda logo on the engine cover. But I guess since the glory days of Honda where almost all of their products were Japan made, things changed & most manufacturing has transferred to overseas factories to save Honda money. The parts seem pretty much identical in both design and build quality compared to the Japan made GX35s. The included manual provides lots of helpful & useful maintenance tips & teaches how to use the engine properly.

It's a great running little engine & I expect to get some good use out of it. There's just one problem with the wiring for the kill wire. It is not a copper kill wire so any kill button/switch with a copper wire will not work with this engine which is basically most motorized bicycle kill buttons as pretty much all motorized bicycle kill buttons use copper wiring. I had to pull the spark pug to shut off the engine after trying a kill button that uses a copper wire when I tried my $5 kill button I bought along with the engine.
