Read the instruction twice first, then start the replacement job.
Make note of how your kit is together now as it. Make notes if needed.
1. Take loose the throttle cable and un plug the stop - kill switch wire.
2. Unbolt the engine from the black channel. Hold the drive roller in a beach vise or use channel locks, use a oil Filter wrench to unscrew the clutch drum, it has standard right hand threads.
Be sure not to bend, dent or egg shape the clutch drum.
3. Kits 5 years old or kits with the SMALL 54 mm clutch drum. If your kit has both bearing retaining rings on the inside of the channel, remove the ring that is on the bearing (engine side ONLY). You can use two small standard screw drivers to spread the retaining ring apart, then slide it off the bearing. Then push the drive roller and bearing (s) out towards the engine.
If you kit has the retaining ring on the OUTSIDE closest to the engine you do NOT need to remove any of the retaining rings.
4. Install new bearings, place one bearing on the short leg first, take the retaining ring off the 2nd bearing (if it was on the INSIDE of the channel, ref. # 3) and place over the New drive roller, slide the threaded end of the drive roller in the bearing hole on the engine leg, then slide the drive roller into the bearing on the short leg.
5. Press the 2nd bearing with the snap ring grove going in first, then install the ring back on the bearing. Lay the engine spacer on a flat bench where the bearing would go closest to the table top. Place the channel with the drive roller going down into spacer. Tap the ID of the drive roller on the Short leg, tapping the drive roller and BEARING out of the long leg.
6. Place a 5/16” flat washer on the 3/8-24 standard right hand threads, then replace the engine spacer, then screw on the clutch drum nice and tight. Be sure and do not bend or dent the clutch drum. Also this is a good time to check the clutch rotor shoes for wear and the clutch drum for wear.
7. Some kits may have a machined washer or more then one washer, be sure and place them in the same order as when you removed them.
